Rail systems

Design, renewal and documentation for on-board electronics and control boards. The hardest part of this sector is not the board itself but the file that makes it sellable — we build both together.

  1. 01

    On-board power conversion

Auxiliary power groups, DC/DC conversion and battery interfaces, adapted to the voltage levels on the vehicle.

  2. 02

    Control board design

Requirements analysis, schematic, component selection, PCB and assembly — with traceable requirement-to-test matching.

  3. 03

    Board renewal and modernisation

Redesign of boards that can no longer be sourced because their components are obsolete, using current equivalents.

  4. 04

    Test plan and conformity file

Defining the type test scope, planning laboratory work, compiling the declaration and the technical file.

  5. 05

    Insulation monitoring and safety functions

Continuous monitoring of insulation resistance in high-voltage systems, with fault reporting. We are developing our own unit in this area.

  6. 06

    Tunnel, platform and on-board lighting

Isolated multi-channel drivers and movement-adaptive lighting control, managed centrally over CAN.

Our working framework

  • EN 50155Electronic equipment on rolling stock: temperature, humidity, supply interruption classes
  • EN 50121-3-2Electromagnetic compatibility — apparatus on rolling stock
  • EN 61373Shock and vibration testing
  • EN 45545-2Fire behaviour of materials
  • EN 50126RAMS — reliability, availability, maintainability, safety
  • EN 50128 / 50657Safety integrity levels for products containing software
  • IPC-2221 / IPC-A-610PCB design rules and assembly acceptance criteria
We carry out design and documentation observing the requirements of these standards. The applicable test class and conformity scope for a given product are agreed together with your specification at the quotation stage.

Our work in the field

These capabilities are not theoretical: we are actively delivering work on the rail side.

What we check when repairing a power board

Faults in locomotive power boards rarely come from a single component; they are usually a chain in which one failure triggers the next. Before a repair is delivered we run the following checks on every board and replace whatever we find.

  • Damage from voltage surges and spikes
  • Fuse, NTC and bridge rectifier faults
  • Capacitance loss in high-voltage electrolytic capacitors
  • ESR rise, bulging and dry-out in capacitors
  • MOSFET overheating and short circuit checks
  • Gate driver circuit faults
  • Isolation faults: optocouplers and transformers
  • Schottky and fast diode failures
  • PWM controller IC faults
  • Unstable or incorrect voltage regulation
  • Shortened component life from heat, humidity and dust
  • Solder cracks caused by vibration and shock
  • Replacement of overstressed or low-grade components with quality equivalents

Where a board cannot be sourced because its components are out of production, we move to a new design that delivers the same function with current equivalents — which makes the board manufacturable again.
